Would You Like to Become a Folk Dancer?
Kisbetyárok Family Dancers is a performing group sponsored by the Hungarian American Association of Washington. Dancers of all ages, children and adults, meet each week to learn Hungarian dances. We rehearse on Saturday mornings during the school year from 10 am to noon at the Phinney Neighborhood Center in Seattle. Rehearsals get very busy, but much is accomplished and having all ages together is a plus. Older students and parents get to help with the younger dancers and families have the opportunity to dance together!
We perform about six times a year for Association events and community festivals. This year during the Memorial Day weekend, May 27-30, at the Northwest Folklife Festival 2011 we will be presenting a stage show once again along with Forras and Bokreta! We plan to end end our dance season with a performance in Leavenworth in June.
If you love to dance and are committed to passing on Hungarian folk culture to the next generation, come and check us out. Please contact Sue Isely before you visit as there are a few Saturdays when we do not meet. Sue can be reached by phone at 425-670-2396 or you may email her at

Other Hungarian Dance Events
Evening Dance Parties.
Besides participating in Kisbetyárok, there are other Hungarian folk dancing opportunities in the Seattle area. The Association sponsors three or four dance workshops and evening dance parties or
táncházes
each year and also plans special performances whenever Hungarian folk musicians or dancers visit the area. We are very fortunate to have Laci Orbán and the Forrás Hungarian Folk Band from Vancouver, B.C. provide live music for these events!
If you would like to be put on our email list for Hungarian dance events, please email
Sue Isely
and you will be added to the list. You may also check the upcoming event listed on this website.
Summer Dance Camp.
Every August there is a week-long music and dance camp (Ti Ti Tábor) held at the All Saints Center, Raft Island near Gig Harbor, Washington. The camp brings Hungarian dance masters and musicians from Hungary to teach. The week is filled with dance and music classes, evening parties, singing, and cultural sessions.
The 2011 camp will be held August 7 - 14.
